Lawrence “Boo” Mitchell is an American musician, songwriter, audio engineer, record producer, and owner of Royal Studios in Memphis. His father, Willie Mitchell, operated Royal Studios and was vice president of Hi Records. Mitchell became interested in music from a young age and growing up, was surrounded by top recording talent, including Al Green, the Jacksons, KC and the Sunshine Band, Michael McDonald, and the Doobie Brothers. He has been a producer at Royal Records since the early 1990s, collaborating with artists like John Mayer, Snoop Dog, Terrence Howard and Bruno Mars. Mitchell is the president of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Memphis Chapter, and is a leading ambassador of the Memphis sound. Mitchell and his wife Tanya have five children.
