LUMINARY BIO

Dr. Margarita Bianco is an associate professor in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver. She is also the founder and executive director of Pathways2Teaching, a concurrent-enrollment program designed to encourage high school students of color to become teachers. Dr. Bianco’s commitment to diversity and equity has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Outstanding Researcher Award from the Council for Learning Disabilities (CLD), the Rosa Parks Diversity Award (CU Denver), the University of Colorado President’s Diversity Award, the Teaching Excellence Award (CU Denver 2012), and most recently, the Floyd G. Hudson Service Award (CLD, 2015).

FUN FACTS

  • Dr. Bianco taught fourth grade at an American school in northern Italy from 1983 to 1986.
  • She manages to get lost even with GPS on her phone and in her car.
